Nigeria police says afrobeat musician, Seun kuti, has reported to the state criminal investigation department, popularly known as Panti, in Lagos state, over an alleged assault on a police officer on Saturday.

In a statement by state police public relation officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, the musician was accompanied by a representative of his lawyer, Femi Falana and some members of his family.

Reports say Seun was in handcuffs while being paraded by police officers at the SCID, Lagos for assaulting a police officer on the third mainland bridge on Saturday.

Recall that the inspector-general of police, Usman Baba, ordered the arrest of the singer and a speedy investigation into the remote and immediate cause of the alleged assault and prosecution of the suspect accordingly.

Meanwhile, the police service commission has also demanded the immediate prosecution of the musician, adding that no one has the right to assault a policeman in uniform, no matter the offence committed by the police officer.
