The chairman senate committee on army, Senator Abulaziz Musa Yaradua says there is a need to reintroduce an upgraded mobile police force, with an arrangement to facilitate their deployment to their constituencies in order to adequately stem the tide of insecurity in Nigeria.

 

 

Yaradua speaking during an interview submitted state police remains a viable approach, noting that layers of partnership with federal police, and constitutionally structure duties and boundaries will be a potent combination against insecurity in Nigeria.

 

 

The lawmaker who is also the chairman northern senator’s forum, also argued that the autonomy of local government is an important factor in combating crime, stating that the senate will expediate action to facilitate independence of the local government.

 

He however emphasized that national security is not the duty of the federal government alone, calling on residents to collaborate with the different security structure in their domain to stem the tide of insecurity.
