The House of Representatives has passed for a second reading, the bill seeking for the establishment of state police.

Deputy Speaker of the House Benjamin Kalu and 14 other members of the house sponsored the bill and referred it to the house committee on constitution review.

Some of the lawmakers who contributed to the debate including; Babajimi Benson and Tolani Shagaya said the state police will be better placed and prepared to handle the issues of insecurity in the various communities.

They stressed, the bill also seeks to empower other forms of state police like Amotekun and Neighborhood Watch to operate on the side of the law.
