The Deputy Spokesperson of the House of Representatives, Philip Agbese, has insisted that the decision of the lawmakers to slash their salaries by 50 per cent is not a sham or a publicity stunt.
Agbese addressing doubts expressed by some Nigerians over the sincerity of the lawmakers, stated that the house is determined to play its part in alleviating the suffering of the people, ensuring that no stone is left unturned to provide succor to the public.
According to him, when people have genuine intentions, there is no cause to ridicule the intention by passing unnecessary doubt as to the veracity of our 50 per cent cut in salary.
Agbese however appealed to government at all levels to continue to dialogue with the public, to cool off all forms of anger and frustration, for the good of the country.
