The Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, NUPENG and its Petroleum and Natural and Senior Staff Association, PENGASSAN have called on President Bola Tinubu to investigate allegations of sabotage against the Dangote Refinery by International Oil Companies (IOCs).

The unions claim that IOCs are attempting to undermine the refinery’s operations by denying crude oil supply and artificially inflating prices.

In a letter signed by NUPENG’s General Secretary, Afolabi Olawale and his PENGASSAN’s counterpart, Lumumba Okugbawa, to the President, they emphasised the refinery’s importance as a critical national asset for energy security, economic growth, and employment.

Consequently, they demanded a setup of an independent investigative panel to probe the alleged sabotage against Dangote refinery and possible legal action if allegations are proven.

NUPENG and PENGASSAN also urged government to “provide all necessary support to ensure the uninterrupted commencement and operation of the Dangote Refinery.”

They expressed confidence in President Tinubu’s commitment to addressing this issue.
