Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo has picked a former Deputy Clerk of the National Assembly and kinsman of former Governor Rotimi Akeredolu from Owo, Olaide Adelami, as the deputy governor of the state.

The nomination was announced in a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Ebenezer Adeniyan, a few hours after the governor sacked all the commissioners and special advisers.

Adeniyan said the name of the new deputy governor has been transmitted to the state House of Assembly for approval.

Adelami retired as Deputy Clerk to the National Assembly in April 2018 and was a governorship Aspirant under the All Progressives Congress in 2020.

He however stepped down for the late Akeredolu.
