Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission, ODIEC, has disclosed that 10 political parties have expressed intent to participate in the forthcoming local government elections scheduled to take place in February 2024.
In a statement by the Commissioner in charge of Communication, Publicity, and ICT, Tunde Adeleye said a deadline had been set for political parties to submit their list of candidates for the polls.
According to Adeleye, out of all the political parties, 10 have duly complied with the directive and have submitted their candidates’ list to ODIEC within the stipulated timeframe.
He emphasized that ODIEC has fulfilled its statutory obligations by promptly publishing the list and personal information of the candidates running for the positions of Councillor’s in all 18 Local Government Areas at the local government offices of ODIEC.
He added that ODIEC aims to encourage an inclusive democratic process and enhance public participation in the forthcoming Local Government elections.
