Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Kemi Nandap has dismantled all unauthorized checkpoints along Nigeria’s border posts, ordering routine patrols to stop unauthorized elements from entering into the Country.

Service Spokesman, DCI Kenneth Udo in a statement said the CGIS gave the order at a meeting with Comptrollers of Border Commands and Commanders at the Service Headquarters, with the aim to ensure efficient border security and migration management which are core mandates of the Immigration Service.

The CGIS charged them to be dedicated to duty and underscored the significance of border security stating that, Nigeria’s current realities require extra layers of security at the borders to prevent infiltration by criminal elements that could fuel crises in the country.

Nandap also instructed that henceforth, Comptrollers are to employ supervisory strategies, ensure timely report of major movements (entries and exits) and, professionally, handle sensitive intelligence requiring urgent attention with recommendations for enhanced border monitoring.
