Lagos state waste management authority, LAWMA has promised to sustain its partnership with other relevant agencies in ensuring a safer and cleaner environment for residents of the state.

This was made known by the director of the agency, Muyiwa Gbadegbshin, who noted that the Monitoring and Compliance team of the agency, in collaboration with the Environmental Sanitation Corps, recently dislodged illegal street traders at the popular Fruit Market, Ketu.

Gbadegbshin said these illegal traders dump waste on roadsides and medians, and their activities are a contributory factor to the ongoing cholera outbreak.

He however insisted that elimination of illegal roadside trading is essential to maintaining a clean and hygienic environment and ensuring a free flow of vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
