The Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA) has announced a major collaboration with the Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA) to streamline the enrolment process for residents as part of efforts to achieve Universal Health Coverage (UHC) through its health insurance scheme, ILERA EKO.

At a joint press conference, Permanent Secretary of LASHMA, Emmanuella Zamba, explained that the partnership was a significant step forward for ILERA EKO with over 1 million residents already enrolled.

Zamba said they are aiming to reach even more people, particularly those in the informal sector, with plans to increase its capitation based on the high costs of drugs and medical supplies.

She explained that the initiative is currently being piloted in five key locations across the state while the long-term goal is to integrate LASRRA’s ID card with the ILERA EKO system, eliminating the need for separate LASHMA cards.
