Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Monday received African football legend and former Chelsea star Didier Drogba at the Lagos House in Marina.
Drogba was part of a delegation discussing Lagos’ preparations for the E1 World Championship, an all-electric race boat competition set for September.
Governor Sanwo-Olu hosted event sponsors, including FEDA CEO Marlene Ngoyi Mvidia, E1 Racing Chairman Alejandro Agag, and Strategic Adviser Pablo Agag.
Drogba, a key advocate for E1 sports in Africa, joined the discussions on opportunities for young African talents in water sports.
The championship has attracted global interest, with sports icons like NBA’s LeBron James and tennis star Rafael Nadal showing support.
Governor Sanwo-Olu assured organisers that Lagos is ready to host, calling it a unique opportunity to showcase the state’s sustainable growth.
