The commissioner of police in Lagos state, Olanrewaju Ishola says the force will ensure the safety of lives and properties as Nigeria celebrates its 64th independence tomorrow, noting that there will be no room for break down of law and order.
Ishola speaking during an interview noted that he had a productive meeting with some organisers of the proposed protest, with an understanding that their procession will be peaceful and within the ambit of the law.
According to him, it is the right of every Nigerian to protest, but the force will no hesitate to clampdown on hoodlums or unpatriotic persons, seeking avenue to unleash mayhem.
Meanwhile, the police boss also assured that activities of police offers under his command will be monitored to curb unprofessional conducts, prevalent in the state.
