Lagos state government has assured that it will take full advantage of constitutional amendments and provisions for power generation by states, with the formalisation of its own electricity bill which is currently under consideration by the state assembly.

Commissioner for energy, Abiodun Ogunleye said this in a session with newsmen, noting that the state government has kick started the process of highlighting challenges and peculiarities of power generation and distribution in the state, to formulate a realistic policy framework.

According to him, the government has also de-risked the market, with policies that guarantee transparency and investment security, to attract both foreign and local investors to power the sector in the state.

Ogunleye also stated that the state house of assembly has promised to expedite action on the bill, making sure that legal framework to propagate government agenda is in place.
