The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it has learnt from the success and failures of last general election, stating that the off-cycle elections in Bayelsa, Imo, Bayelsa and Kogi states will see astronomic improvements in all areas.

Chairman of the Commission, Mahmood Yakubu, made this known in his remarks at a meeting with Resident Electoral Commissioners today, noting that all non-sensitive materials for the election have been delivered to the three States.

Yakubu said the Commission is concerned about the prevailing insecurity and election-related violence in the three states election will be taking place, calling on security operatives to ensure security is not a challenge before, during and after the elections.

According to him, the three elections will involve 5,409,438 registered voters that will vote in 10,510 polling units spread across 649 electoral Wards in 56 Local Government Areas.
