The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Mahmood Yakubu, says the commission will continue to engage the national assembly and other relevant stakeholders, in improving election process in Nigeria.

Yakubu said this at the induction ceremony of 10 new Resident Electoral Commissioners in Lagos, stating that the electoral umpire has identified bottlenecks having overseen series of elections, noting that necessary laws and technical amendments will be recommended where necessary.

The INEC boss also urged the newly inducted Resident Electoral Commissioners to work on improving the process by committing themselves to quality service delivery, upholding the ideals of credible elections in Nigeria,

The chairman of the umpire also said two out of the 10 new RECs who will be overseeing the off-cycle election in Edo and Ondo states have been properly inducted and are not entirely new to election administration.
