A private jet having about 10 persons onboard including Very Important Personalities (VIPs) has overshot the Ibadan airport runway in the Oyo State capital.

 

Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), said the private plane from Abuja landed at the Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport, missed the runway and skidded into the nearby bush

 

A spokesperson for the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Carol Adekotujo, who confirmed the incident said firefighters and rescue officials from the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) were immediately deployed to the scene, where it was confirmed, there was no death or casualty recorded.

 

When contacted, a spokesman for the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) Tunji Oketunmbi, confirmed the incident but said a team had been dispatched to the site for a probe.

Meanwhile, an Abuja-based lawyer, Pelumi Olajengbesi, has said there is a need for an urgent repair of the Ibadan Airport runway to guarantee the safety of lives.
