It is tragic Tuesday in Iran’s northern city of Rasht where nine patients have been killed in a fire incident in
Ghaem hospital.

President of the Gilan University of Medical Sciences in Rasht, Mohammad Taghi Ashobi who confirmed the incident said the fire had been put out and investigators were working to determine what had caused it.

According to the reports, the hospital has 250 beds and 142 of them were occupied at the time of the fire.

It is not the first tragic fire incident in Iran as 32 persons were killed in similar circumstances in November 2023 at the drug rehab centre in Langarud city, also in Gilan province while 19 people died in a powerful explosion caused by gas canisters in Northern Tehran in June 2020.
