The federal government has appealed for partnership with state governments to boost local production of food and aid empowerment of farmers to adequately tackle food shortage, hike in staple prices and economic hardship.

 

Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Abubakar Kyari made the plea while playing host to Kwara, Kogi, Ondo and Taraba state governors in Abuja, outlining plans by his ministry to be proactive in addressing food shortage before it becomes a national emergency.

 

According to Kyari, the subject of food self-sufficiency under the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Tinubu administration is a focal point that must needs the cooperation of all stakeholders to succeed.

 

 

The minister also urged the governors to make policies that creates enabling environment for farmers to be productive and protected.
