Nigeria Won't Fall, Will Remain Africa's Giant, Says Information Minister Idris - Arise News

Minister of Information and Orientation, Mohammed Idris has called on journalists to counter terrorist ideologies by offering compelling, positive alternatives in their reporting.

Speaking at a workshop on effective reporting against terrorism, Idris emphasised that terrorists wage both physical and psychological warfare, which media can counter through positive narratives.

The minister urged media to highlight successful counter-radicalization initiatives and rehabilitation programs for repentant terrorists.

He advised journalists to work with experts and community leaders for multi-faceted perspectives on terrorism, while maintaining objectivity and avoiding sensationalism.

Also speaking, National Counter-terrorism Centre Coordinator, Maj.-Gen. Adamu Laka, encouraged media to promote a positive image of Nigeria to attract foreign investments and improve the country’s global standing.

The workshop, organized by the National Counter-terrorism Centre in collaboration with the National Peace Academy and Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution, aims to strengthen reporting against terrorist ideologies.
