The Egba Traditional Council has suspended the Olu of Owode-Egba, Oba Kolawole Sowemino, for two months after he was seen spraying a Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde with N1000 notes at a social event.

Despite an earlier apology, the Egba Council adopted its Ethical Committee recommendation to sanction Oba Sowemino, prohibiting him from attending public functions and receiving salary during suspension.

The Committee chairman, Oba Saka Matemilola referenced a precedent where a citizen was jailed six months for similar naira misuse and accused the monarch of bringing ridicule upon the council.

In reaction, Oba Sowemino said he abides by the decision of the traditional council and apologised further.
