The Federal High Court, Abuja has nullified the Edo State PDP primary election that took place on February 22nd and produced Asue Ighodalo as Governorship Candidate.

Justice Inyang Ekwo ruled on the premise that the PDP’s primary election on Feb. 22 did not adhere to the requirements set out in the Electoral Act of 2022, the guidelines for the poll, and the party’s constitution.

Justice Ekwo determined that the Exhibit PDP 1, presented by the party, lacked supporting evidence. He further ruled that the plaintiffs successfully proved their case against the defendants by submitting relevant exhibits.

The court held that both the provisions of the Electoral Act 2022 and the PDP guidelines were grossly violated in the conduct of the primary election at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium in Benin.

The suit was instituted by one Kelvin Mohammed in a representative capacity of the aggrieved delegates.
