The Pan Yoruba socio-cultural organization, Afenifere, has removed Pa Ayo Odebanjo as the Acting Leader of the group.

The group sacked Pa Adebanjo, who was on March 17, 2021 appointed acting leader by the leader of the group, Pa. Reuben Fasoranti, at its first general meeting in the New Year held in Akure, Ondo State on Wednesday.

Reading the resolutions of the organisation, the National Publicity Secretary of the organisation, Jare Ajayi said the decision is based on the pressing need to reposition and rejuvenate, Afenifere.

He said Afenifere decided that the position of Acting Leader and Deputy Leader have now been abrogated.

He said the responsibilities and authority of advising Afenifere leader and Asiwaju Yoruba are now vested in the Afenifere Elders Caucus which has been constituted comprising 21 members.

He said Members of the Elders Caucus include him, (Fasoranti) as the Chairman while others act as members.

According to him, the caucus members include, Chief Ayo Adebanjo; Oba Olu Falae; Senator C. O. Adebayo; Senator Femi Okunrounmu; Basorun Seinde Arogbofa; Senator Kofo Bucknor Akerele; Arch Bishop Prince Ayo Ladigbolu; Lt. Gen Alani Ipoola Akinrinade; Maj Gen. Olu Bajowa (rtd) and Prof Bolaji Akinwande Akinyemi.

Others are, Prof Banji Akintoye; Dr S A J Ibikunle; Chief Femi Aluko; Prince Alonge; Dr Yomi Finnih; Prince Olusi; Hon Korede Duyile; Prof Ropo Sekoni; Hon Lekan Alabi and Dr Kunle Olajide.

The group also resolved that there is an urgent need to rework the Security Architecture of the country to ensure that Nigerians are able to live and move about without the fear of being kidnapped or harassed in any way.
