Nurses at the Ogun State Hospital, Ijaye, Abeokuta defied the rain on Thursday to protest the alleged assault on a final year student nurse by a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, Dr Adekunle Nurudeen.

The nurses who lamented the undermining of nurses at several instances explained that Nurudeen slapped the student nurse at the theatre without any reparation from the authorities.

Addressing newsmen, state Chairman of National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives,  Adejoke Bello, explained that the assault is against the public service rules and demanded that the culprit must be brought to justice.

The protests drew nurses from all parts of the state capital.
