Onnoghen's appeal challenging removal as CJN adjourned to November 4 | TheCable

The Court of Appeal in Abuja has granted permission for the Federal Government and former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen, to settle the dispute over his sack out of court.

Onnoghen had filed several suits after his controversial removal from office by former President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019, during a pending charge at the Code of Conduct Tribunal.

At Thursday’s proceedings, counsel for both parties confirmed ongoing discussions for a peaceful resolution with Onnoghen’s counsel, Dr. Ogwu Onoja requesting a one-month adjournment to finalise the settlement.

Presiding Judge, Justice J. O. Oyewole directed the parties to file terms of settlement for adoption once an agreement is reached.
