Lagos state police command has refuted claims by some media that the commissioner of police in the state, Adegoke Fayoade banned protests in the state and outlawed any gathering, following the nationwide speech of the president on Sunday.

In a now viral video, the police boss was heard explaining the position of the force, which the force spokesman, Benjamin Hundeyin says was misquoted and misunderstood.

Hudeyin, in a while speaking to Adamimogo Fm, stated that the organisers of the protest had announced that the protest is over, after the president’s speech, which he said the police chief re-echoed, insisting that Fayoade never banned any protest.

He however appealed to media outlets to always reach out to persons concerned to verify information before disseminating, to avoid misrepresentation.
