President Bola Tinubu has expressed enthusiasm in working with the new government in Britain, after congratulating the Labour Party and its candidate Keir Starmer, on their victory in the United Kingdom general election.

 

Tinubu in a statement by his spokesman Ajuri Ngelale, hailed the incoming Prime Minister for his courage and determination throughout his years in the opposition, pushing to reform, mobilise, and position his party for victory after 14 years.

 

The President also congratulated the citizens and the government of the United Kingdom, describing the kingdom as an abiding model of democracy and Nigeria’s long-standing partner.

 

The Nigerian president however said he looked forward to deepening relations with the United Kingdom in mutual areas of interest, and in strengthening democratic institutions, as well as in building a safer and more prosperous future for the people of both countries.
