The Lagos state police command has confirmed that nine kidnappers were neutralized, while two escaped with gunshot injuries, after officers foiled an attempted operation to kidnap a person, in the Ladipo area of the state.

The state police public relations officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, in a social media post, noted that the kidnappers engaged officers in a shoot-out but bowed to the superior fire power, with four AK-47 rifles, four locally-made semiautomatic pistols, nine AK47 magazines, three walkie-talkies, one POS machine and a loud speaker recovered from them.

According to him, the command had been on the trail of the gang for the past eight months for their numerous kidnappings of wealthy individuals in Isolo, Okota, Ejigbo and Ladipo areas of the state.

Hundeyin who said the injured gang members are on the run, urged medical practitioners to be on the lookout for anyone with gunshot injuries and promptly inform the nearest police station, to ensure the arrest and prosecution of the suspects.
