A Federal High Court in Lagos has issued a final order for the permanent forfeiture of properties valued at over N12.18 billion linked to former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor Godwin Emefiele.

Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke granted the order after reviewing an application by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) following an earlier temporary forfeiture order issued on June 5.

The EFCC alleged that Emefiele acquired the properties, located primarily in upscale areas of Abuja, through fraudulent means.

Justice Aneke ordered the EFCC to publish the order in a national newspaper for any interested party to show cause why the final order of forfeiture should not be made.
