Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola says Rodri and Erling Haaland are doubts for the club’s FA Cup third round tie against Huddersfield Town.

Spain midfielder Rodri could miss Sunday’s game following the death of his grandmother while Haaland continues to recover from a foot injury sustained last year

Midfielder Kevin de Bruyne and winger Jeremy Doku are back in training after injuries, but Guardiola is unsure if they will figure this weekend or in the club’s next Premier League game against Newcastle United on Saturday 13 January.

De Bruyne has not featured for City since tearing his hamstring during their Premier League season opener against Burnley on 11 August.

Guardiola added that four players in Bernardo Silva, Kalvin Phillips, Matheus Nunes and Scott Carson were struggling with illness.

Meanwhile, Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai will miss the FA Cup third-round match at Arsenal on Sunday because of a hamstring injury.

The 23-year-old Hungary international suffered the blow in Monday’s 4-2 win against Newcastle United and came off after 64 minutes.

According to Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, Szoboszlai will also miss the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final against Fulham on Wednesday.

Szoboszlai joins Thiago Alcantara, Andy Robertson, Stefan Bajcetic, Joel Matip and Kostas Tsimikas on Liverpool’s injury list, while the Reds will also be without Mohamed Salah and Wataru Endo.

Forward Salah will be with Egypt ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations while midfielder Endo is at the Asian Cup with Japan.
