Cross River State Governor Bassey Out says his idea of transformational governance is a system where the needs of the people take preeminence and every available resource is channeled towards structures that can adequately meet the basic yarning of the people.

Otu speaking during the signing of the N296.9 billion ‘Peoples First’ Budget of 2024 into law, explained that as a deliberate principle, he maintained a higher capital–recurrent expenditure of 61.6% to 38.4%, emphasizing the importance of structural development in rural and urban centres.

Though the governor had proposed a budget size of N250 billion with N154 billion as capital expenditure and N96 billion for recurrent expenditure, the House of Assembly jerked it up by N46 billion to provide adequate financial support for people living with disabilities.

Otu expressed optimism that his administration will surpass the revenue target, urging revenue-generating agencies, and MDAs to ensure prompt and full remittances of collected revenues.
