President Bola Tinubu has waded into the political situation in Rivers State, following alleged rancor between former governor Nyesom Wike and his successor, Siminalaye Fubara.

The President today met with Fubara and Nyesom Wike, at the Aso Villa in an attempt to quell the raging storm in the state after an impeachment proceeding was launched against Fubara by the State House of Assembly yesterday, which accused the governor of acts of gross misconduct.

Reacting to the claims of the lawmakers, fubara who also stormed the Complex with some of his supporters argued that their allegations were baseless, insisting that the house provide evidences of their claims leading to the institution of his impeachment.

On Sunday, a section of the complex was aflame with the source of the fire unknown and reportedly connected to the fall out between Fubara and his former boss, Wike who is now the minister of the federal capital territory.
