Nigerian security agencies have sent a note of warning to political thugs and trouble makers to have a rethink and turn a new leaf before the off-cycle governorship elections in Bayelsa, Kogi and Imo states.

The outfits made the statement today on the sidelines of meeting with the independent national electoral commission, INEC, promising to place capable officers in hotspots in the states to ensure that the election is void of violence and rancor.

Inspector general of police, Kayode Egbedokun and chief of defence staff, General Christopher Musa noted that intelligence gathering and prompt action will be adopted to stem the tide of brewing political wars, restating that corrupt official will not be shown leniency.

The gathering, held at the NSA office in Abuja, is part of the consultative meetings by the Commission ahead of the November 11, 2023 off-season exercise.
